ˈtæŋɡəʊ . An argument
Artist: Simone Lau, Wilson Yeung
This video installation explores the relationships and communication barriers within a conflict. Two screens are set up side-by-side displaying two tightly cropped heads facing away from each other. The scenarios are imaginary interactions where the individuals reference and recollect memories of family conflicts in the form of an isolated monologue performance. There were no interactions between the two events.
The dialogue is formed in the display of the events in a simultaneous installation. Through the physical spatial barriers and a pattern of synchronized and clashing movements, a sense of disconnection and lack of communication is revealed. The framed spaces create a warm domestic setting in which the two heads dance back and forth as one.
